The cheapest method, by far, is air. You can get pretty good package deals or just flights at these sites: http://www.hotwire.com/ http://www.kayak.com/ For instance I just checked Hotwire and found roundtrip tickets from El Paso to Honolulu for $525 per person roundtrip which is a really good price.
