YOU need to look in the phone book and see if there are other bus lines that operate there. Then YOU need to call the bus station and ask the fares. It is the quickest, easiest way to find out. Or you can call this number 1-800-231-2222. Greyhound does not list fares on-line.

Greyhound is the only bus line I know of. Might check SW flights. At times they can be cheaper than bus.

You'll hit 2 to 6 checkpoints, but the INS is looking for illegal immigrants more than drugs. What kind of vehicle you're driving really matters. If they can clearly see in, they'll probably just waive you through, but you'll have to pull through the checkpoint. More stringent from the Las Cruces NM area to El Paso than Phoenix through southern NM. Still just check points if they can see your car. BTW, it's been really hot. Grab some water for the border patrol/INS guys when you get stopped. Always offer the agent some cold water. It helps a lot.

Maybe, you will be sabotaged because the characters of drug wars in that place is drug addicts. Better to ride on plane.

There are NO harzards due to the drug wars!!!!!!!!!!! trust me!!! I have driven from El Paso to Phoenix and back about 10 times already (i have a brother stationed in Casas Grandes-Border Patrol, and i have lived in El Paso all my life, except for 3 years in san antonio) and i have no problems AT ALL!!!!! the last thing a drug trafficker wants to do is create attention!!! you have nothing to worry about....its kinda hot in this area (but you are already used to that)...so do bring sunblock.... have a safe trip!!!!

I want to travel from Atlanta to El Paso Texas and take a taxi to Ciudad Juarez?
Long story why but i have a 2 yr old daughter who doesn't have her passport. But need to go to ciudad Juarez, Mexico, which is here... http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/wwwhmap.html i will be taking a flight from Atlanta to El Paso, TX...when i reach el paso, tx where do i find a cab to the exact place i want to go, which is IN mexico? Do i ask people at the airport what to do? Any help would be great! thanks!

You can call and reserve a taxi. The passport does not go into affect until 08. God Bless You

Just ask any one curb side for a border taxi that can cross with no problem- ask them the cost to get you exactly where you want to go- no papers needed to go from El Paso to Mexico but coming back a birth certificate and or a passport might be wise to have.

You do not need passports for land travel to Mexico until Jan. 2008. However, you will not be able to take your daughter into Mexico with just ONE parent unless you have a signed notarized letter of permission from the other parent. If you have court ordered sole legal and physical custody, and have the papers to prove it, this does not apply, otherwise you must have the letter. You WILL be asked for it.

Is it dangerous for my 24 year-old daughter to travel by bus from Mobile, Al to El Paso Texas?
She is visiting a friend who is stationed there in the Army and is going next to Germany. She has family here. He will have family there. I am trying to express to her reasons she should not go. Please express yours. He is not even a boyfriend and putting her self in danger and riding the bus for many, many hours doesn't seem worth it. She has never rode the bus before, please tell of your experiences. She does not have a job and will also be without money.

Time for her to be a grown up...and for you to ace anxiety, but she will be fine. She needs to use good common sense. sit next to a middle aged or older woman. Keep to herself. Not put carry-on luggage in the overhead bin. Always keep carry-on bag by your feet with strap around your leg or wrist so it cannot be taken if you sleep. Chances of that are slim, but you have no control over stuff in the overhead bin. Sne needs to ask how many transfers there will be and be aware that sometimes buses are late and she will be sitting in a bus station waiting. Needs to WATCH each time there is a transfer to see that her checked bag is put on the new bus. Most people are courteous. She should sit near the driver if at all possible. She needs to have a confident, well-aware air about her, not be a timid, scared to death kid. Needs to dress comfortably, modestly. I have seen some women dressed very inappropriately on the bus. She will need to have some money for food and to call home to check in. If she cannot pay for her own trip, she should not go. I have ridden the bus for thousands of miles...no problem with people...just with late buses and Greyhound losing my bag...that's why I say she needs to SEE her bag put on the new bus each time. An alternate idea would be to take Amtrak...more expensive, but more reliable and more comfortable. Check Amtrak.com or CALL them...the website is difficult to use. 1-800-872-7245. Another idea is to look on Craigslist for a ride and post a note there. She could look for a ride with a female and go at least one way that way. I did it and it worked great. the person even gave me references to call. Look under Rideshare.

How old do you think is old enough to go alone? If she can't take care of herself now she never will be able to. She better have some money for food when they stop to eat. Having someone offer to buy something for her is a good way to make trouble for herself.
