About Is it dangerous for my 24 year-old daughter to travel by bus from Mobile, Al to El Paso Texas

Is it dangerous for my 24 year-old daughter to travel by bus from Mobile, Al to El Paso Texas?
She is visiting a friend who is stationed there in the Army and is going next to Germany. She has family here. He will have family there. I am trying to express to her reasons she should not go. Please express yours. He is not even a boyfriend and putting her self in danger and riding the bus for many, many hours doesn't seem worth it. She has never rode the bus before, please tell of your experiences. She does not have a job and will also be without money.

Time for her to be a grown up...and for you to ace anxiety, but she will be fine. She needs to use good common sense. sit next to a middle aged or older woman. Keep to herself. Not put carry-on luggage in the overhead bin. Always keep carry-on bag by your feet with strap around your leg or wrist so it cannot be taken if you sleep. Chances of that are slim, but you have no control over stuff in the overhead bin. Sne needs to ask how many transfers there will be and be aware that sometimes buses are late and she will be sitting in a bus station waiting. Needs to WATCH each time there is a transfer to see that her checked bag is put on the new bus. Most people are courteous. She should sit near the driver if at all possible. She needs to have a confident, well-aware air about her, not be a timid, scared to death kid. Needs to dress comfortably, modestly. I have seen some women dressed very inappropriately on the bus. She will need to have some money for food and to call home to check in. If she cannot pay for her own trip, she should not go. I have ridden the bus for thousands of miles...no problem with people...just with late buses and Greyhound losing my bag...that's why I say she needs to SEE her bag put on the new bus each time. An alternate idea would be to take Amtrak...more expensive, but more reliable and more comfortable. Check Amtrak.com or CALL them...the website is difficult to use. 1-800-872-7245. Another idea is to look on Craigslist for a ride and post a note there. She could look for a ride with a female and go at least one way that way. I did it and it worked great. the person even gave me references to call. Look under Rideshare.
Answer 2 :
How old do you think is old enough to go alone? If she can't take care of herself now she never will be able to. She better have some money for food when they stop to eat. Having someone offer to buy something for her is a good way to make trouble for herself.

Check this site :-http://mobile.craigslist.org/

About any bodyguard services in El Paso,TX available to travel to Juarez every day for 4 consecutive days

Any bodyguard services in El Paso,TX available to travel to Juarez every day for 4 consecutive days?
I will be traveling to El Paso in order to cross to Juarez for 4 days. I will be staying at El Paso, but need to visit a manufacturing site at Juarez. I would like to have a bodyguard while in Mexico, should be something like hours each day, for 4 days. Not sure how arms regulations work in Mexico, but I'm fine with an unarmed bodyguard.Any ideas of providers or companies? Any ideas on cost??? I need this info ASAP. THANKS!

Do not know, but I plugged info into google search and came up with the info in the URL below. Guns are not transportable into Mexico, not even for the police departments.
Answer 2 :
I donĂ‚´t know about bodyguards, but SECURITAS is a security company that works in both sides of the border, you can asked them about your needs, here is the site http://www.securitas.com/us/en/About-Securitas1/Contact-Securitas-in-your-region/Texas/El-Paso-/ I guess what would happen is that you bodyguards will meet you at the bridge since in Mexico is a big crime to carry weapons with out a permit from Mexican authorities, so donĂ‚´t even try to cross carrying any weapon, is jail time no matter if you are a big shot in the USA. But anyway that company will explain it better than me.
Answer 3 :
I can hire my mother for you.

Answer 1 :
Its not too soon to travel for the baby but keep in mind it may make the trip three times longer. I drove from Louisiana to wyoming with my 3 month old daughter. It made the trip alot longer because we kept having to stop so she could eat every 2 to 3 hours! Other than that she was fine and didnt have any problems. Good Luck.
Answer 2 :
They're often very good travelers at this very early age. You will of course have to stop more often to feed/change her, and you will be dog tired, of course. If you allow yourself plenty of travel time and have money to stop in ok hotels, I think it could be just fine. Also, bring a pillow for your posterior because you will be sore after delivering your first baby. It may go against your instincts or bring you out of your comfort zone to make this trip. If you are breastfeeding your breasts will be full a lot and possibly sore, you will likely be suffering from hemorrhoids, but don't be a prisoner of worry. Of course, be prepared to change plans if she is super collicky or has any big health concerns that would require you to be near her pediatrician. Hope everything goes well! Congratulations!
Answer 3 :
It's all about what you feel comfortable with. I dont see anything wrong with it but I personally wouldn't do it cause I feel like I would be stopping so often to change diapers/feed. Most babies are really sleepy in the car but there's no way they'll sleep for 12 hours unless you can travel at night. That's what I would plan to do, travel both ways at night if possible.
Answer 4 :
We traveled with my son at 6 weeks. We had to stop for him to nurse but he slept the rest of the time. And if you breastfeed (which is the best) then it will be a lot more convenient to travel. Best of luck.
Answer 5 :
The issue isn't going to be her, it's going to be you. I really recommend you don't commit yourselves to doing this until you know what sort of baby she's going to be. She might be sleeping for 6-8 hours at night by 8 weeks old and you'll be fine. Or she might be waking up every hour, and you'll be a pair of zombies who haven't had a decent chunk of sleep in two months and simply aren't fit to drive long distance.

Answer 1 :
With all due respect... do you watch the news? Juarez is not a safe place to travel to right now. Even the Mexican consulate in El Paso is warning people to stay away! I have family from Juarez that live in El Paso and they do not go there! Seriously, you need to rethink your travel plans. And in the meantime either google current events in Juarez or read a newspaper. God Bless.
Answer 2 :
As always there is people who exaggerate the situation in Juarez, as far as i know you can take the bus from a terminal just aside the Santa Fe bridge in downtown El Paso.
Answer 3 :
Well, the easiest thing to do is just catch a taxi when you land and have them take you to the Cd. Juarez bus terminal. Bus will be cheaper, but it doesn't look like the city has a direct route from the airport to the bridge, so you'll have to transfer at the terminal by the mall. Check the Sun Metro bus routes provided by the City of El Paso. There is a stop at the airport, and there is a stop at the international bridge, so the city bus is possible whether it's convenient or not is another matter. Once at the International Bridge, walk across the bridge, get your FMT permit in the Imigracion office, and then have one of the taxis waiting on the Mexican side take you to the bus station. Nogales from Cuidad Juarez, eh? You're SERIOUS? Bizarre route for an American to travel...most folks would have gone to Tucson instead of El Paso....but what the hay. Buy your ticket when you get to the bus terminal and use whatever bus line is leaving next. The distance between the two points is 713km and the bus ride is 8 hours 40 minutes (so says Omnibus de Mexico, which has just one bus per day on that route). Buen viaje!
